Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP grew out of the search for more effective personal development and health care approaches. It is an ever-growing collection of information, insights and mental techniques that can enable you to improve how you think, behave and feel.

In practical terms, it's about achievement and being successful with what you want in your personal and professional life.

  • Neuro refers to the way we process the information from our senses (sight, sound, feeling, smell and taste) to understand our experiences.
  • Linguistic refers to the way we use language to communicate our experiences both to other people and internally to ourselves.
  • Programming described how our experiences are coded in our minds to create a series of repeatable steps.

By using NLP to describe exactly how you perceive, represent, communicate and encode your experience, it is possible to change it to generate a more useful outcome, directing you towards accomplishing your goals.

NLP Therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented and practical therapeutic approach to solving problems, achieving goals and personal evolution. This can include growth and change in one's mental, behavioural, emotional and/or spiritual being. It is a synthesis of many models: the solutions-oriented approach of basic NLP combined with cognitive and behavioural therapy, built upon the belief in each individual's potential and ability to grow, learn, develop and evolve positively.

NLP Therapy emphasizes development of and communication between, the conscious and unconscious minds. I provide clients with the guidance and tools to access and develop their inherent resources in order to reach higher levels of consciousness and identify choices, thereby creating more flexibility.

In the mid 1970's John Grinder and Richard Bandler began studying, or modeling, the attitudes, communication style, and interventions of three highly successful therapists - Milton Erickson, Virginia Satir and Fritz Perls.

They did this because they had observed that, despite their different specialties and approaches, these three were consistently successful in what they did. NLP grew out of this modeling project.
